Apple Gets Illegal Tax Rebates From Ireland, EU Says Video By Clip Syndicate Ireland appears to be granting Apple illegal tax rebates that may have to be recouped, the European Union's competition watchdog said Tuesday as it pressed on with an inquiry into the iPhone maker's overseas tax practices. If the EU's preliminary finding is confirmed over the coming months, Apple could face a repayment bill worth billions of dollars because it funnels the bulk of its international sales through subsidiaries in Ireland, where it benefits from low, negotiated tax deals. ...Read More »
Nasty IOS 8 Bug Could Reportedly Erase Your ICloud Drive Documents Video By Clip Syndicate After a disastrous iOS 8.0.1 rollout and a ton of publicity surrounding Bendgate, saying that Apple had a bad week is an understatement. Unfortunately, things aren't looking much better this week, as MacRumors reports on a particularly nasty iOS 8 bug, which could potentially erase the iWork documents stored in your iCloud drive. According to the report, the option to "Reset All Settings," found under Settings — General — Reset in iOS 8, also deletes documents from the iCloud Drive — permanently. The option, which normally resets settings to factory defaults, clearly states that "no data or media will be deleted." However, after some users on MacRumors' forum complained about the bug, MacRumors tested the option out, and indeed, all the iWork documents stored in iCloud Drive both on the iPhone and on iCloud.com were gone.

How Apple's Tax Structure Works Video By Clip Syndicate The European Union’s allegation that tax deals granted to Apple Inc. in Ireland amount to illegal state aid gives a new window into how big companies use border-skipping structures that sidestep most corporate income tax, particularly in Europe. Take a consumer who walks into the Apple Store in Munich to buy an unlocked iPhone. That roughly €500 goes to Apple Retail Germany GmbH, which pulled in revenue of €268 million or $337 million for the year ended Sept. 2012, according to a corporate filing. But Apple Retail Germany doesn’t pocket the money. It in turn paid €205 million for goods in 2012, and actually posted a €18 million loss after staffing and other costs, the filing says.

Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera Grants a Wish Project Profile By none In making an independent film about the film industry and the journey of pursuing the Hollywood dream, the last thing Director Jared Cohn wanted was for it to look fake. Especially when the film was one of the most meaningful projects he had ever created. "The film looks almost like a documentary, but it's completely narrative and scripted. Since I made it on my own dime, the only way I was able to achieve such as realistic look was with the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera," said Jared. Using Prodrenalin To Save Your Video! Product Review By David Hague If you are the proud owner of a GoPro (or similar such as the Sony Action Cam or the Kaiser Baas Sports Cam) you'll be all too familiar with a few problems. Not the least of these is the sheer amount of camera shake followed by distorted footage due to the 'rolling shutter' effect of these cameras. Also in the equation is fish eye distortion, and who hasn't missed that the camera wasn't exactly level when shooting? Or you need to flip video 180 degrees as the camera could only be mounted upside down. This is where ProDad Prodrenalin comes in. ...Read More »
